Equality & Inclusion

At The Shannon Airport Group, we passionately believe that everyone in our society should have equal opportunities. And nobody should be discriminated against based on gender, age, disability, race or religion is important to us. Through a series of ongoing initiatives, we demonstrate our belief that both businesses and communities can truly prosper and develop, now and for years to come by focusing on inclusivity, equality and diversity.

Supporting the Innovation and Engineering of Young People

Education has the potential to drive every community forward and by encouraging creative thinking and innovation in our younger generation, we can map out a future in which we can all prosper. Every year, we host over 700 students from across the country for the ITLG Young Innovators competition and the annual Limerick for Engineering showcase.

Recognising Youth Achievements

Every community needs leaders and by acknowledging the leaders of tomorrow, today, our communities will become better, safer, and stronger. For the last four years, we have sponsored the Clare Garda Youth Awards recognising young people who by their presence make the communities a better place to live, or have shown great determination in their own lives should be recognised.

Mentoring Education & Skills

Encouraging young people to stay in education will pay dividends for both themselves and their communities for years to come. Our partnership with the Business in the Community programme working with fifth year students from Ennis Community College has seen many successes in recent years. And our dedicated business education and work experience programme for local transition-year students demonstrates our focus on skills and education.

Supporting Gender Equality

Through our sponsorship of events and engagement with stakeholders, we are committed to gender equality. In the past year, we have supported Women in Business events and discussions with local students to break down gender barriers.

Sensory Room

We fully recognise that people with disabilities negotiate everyday aspects of life differently than those who do not. Our airport was the first in Europe to open a sensory room for passengers with autism or special needs. It offers a relaxing environment for adults and children ahead of their flight away from the activity of a busy airport.

Passengers with Reduced Mobility

Recognising the needs of passengers with reduced mobility who travel through our airport, we established quality standards in order to regulate assistance and procedures. By working closely with airlines and their agents as well as organisations representing those with reduced mobility, we have best-in-class standards in place to help ensure ease-of-travel for those who need it most. Right across our family of businesses, we are dedicated to ensuring genuine diversity is at the heart of everyday commercial and community life.
