Electrician - Shannon Airport

The role is a full-time permanent position responsible for ensuring the effective monitoring and maintenance of all electrical infrastructure across the airport campus.

Role Purpose:

To always ensure optimum service, it is vital that the complex landside and airfield electrical infrastructure at Shannon Airport are maintained to the highest standards. The role encompasses planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance in a diverse range of landside and airfield infrastructural assets. As aspects of this work are aviation specific on the job training shall be provided.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Completion of planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance on electrical infrastructural assets to include Airfield lighting; Aerodrome compliance; Planned Maintenance programme; Building Services; Fire Alarm systems; Emergency Lighting systems; Car Park systems; Street lighting; Lifts/escalators; HVAC; HBS Maintenance; Heating and Water systems and minor projects.
• Responsible for ensuring a high standard of work on all elements of monitoring, reporting and maintenance of electrical assets to NSAI and EASA standards
• Carry out critical asset repairs, inspections, and health checks of systems
• Use, promote and monitor the asset management CMMS
• Regular monitoring of Electrical Scada Systems
• Support the Airport Maintenance Management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Electrical candidates should have:

• Hold electrical trade apprenticeship and appropriate trade certificates

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working as a fully qualified electrician

• Good working knowledge of electrical systems design, operations, and maintenance of high voltages systems (ideally airfield based)

• Experience of working in a highly regulated and/or safety critical working environment

• Familiar with and understand the NSAI regulation and how they affect the maintenance works of major electrical systems

• Understand the safety regulations and have a strong concern for the health and safety of self and others

• Competent IT skills with experience with Windows based software

• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, with team members, Airport Engineering Team and wider stakeholder

• Strong problem-solving skills accepting ownership for delivery and accountability for results

• Strong work ethic and high attention to detail and quality of work

• Full Clean Class B Licence

Plumber - Shannon Airport

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Plumber with demonstratable experience in installation, maintenance and repair to work across a range of plumbing, heating and mechanical systems within the airport buildings and operational areas. The role is a full-time permanent day Plumber.

Role Purpose:

To support the effective operation, maintenance and development of plumbing and mechanical systems across Shannon Airport facilities. The role will ensure all systems are maintained to the highest safety, operational and regulatory standards, while contributing to ongoing upgrades and capital projects across the airport campus.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems across airport buildings and infrastructure, ensuring continuous operation through proactive and planned maintenance
• Diagnose faults and perform corrective works on water systems, pipework, drainage, sanitary systems, and associated mechanical components (pumps, valves, etc.)
• Support installation, refurbishment, and commissioning of new systems, including integration with HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems and wider mechanical services
• Work under the direction of the Mechanical Supervisor and collaborate with engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver safe and efficient outcomes
• Maintain and inspect hot and cold water supply systems and distribution networks through preventative maintenance and routine checks
• Ensure all work complies with safety, regulatory, and quality standards, while maintaining accurate maintenance records
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and respond promptly to emergency call-outs
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

All candidates should have:

• Completed Plumbing Apprenticeship (QQI Level 6 Advance Certificate – Craft) or equivalent
• Minimum 2-3 years experience post qualification experience (commercial/industrial preferred)
• Strong technical knowledge of plumbing systems, including installation, maintenance and repair of water, drainage and pipework systems
• Proven ability in fault-finding, diagnostics and problem-solving in mechanical/plumbing environments
• Motivated with a strong work ethic and professional attitude
• Safe Pass required
• Experience in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems
• Familiarity with building management systems (BMS)

General Operative - Shannon Airport

Role Purpose:

This role involves working in conjunction with all disciplines in the Airport Engineering Department and other key airport stakeholders. Successful candidates will work with the general operative team and specialist contractors The role will report to and support the Operative Chargehand/Senior Operative – Supervisor

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Assist with site supervision of the airside capital works contracts
• Controlling access of contractors while airside at the construction sites 
• Provide escort duties to and from the construction sites
• Securing landside/airside sites
• Ensure that all airside areas are maintained to the highest safety and security standards
• Maintenance of perimeter fencing, roadways and airfield markings
• Completion of minor repairs to airfield movement areas
• Bird hazard management and grass management
• Other duties that may be assigned by the Airport Engineering and Operations 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

All candidates should have:

• Relevant general maintenance and construction experience
• Full Class B Driving Licence – Class C Driving Licence desirable
• Safe Pass desirable
• Experience in operating agricultural machinery
• Strong Communication skills - good command of English and ability to communicate clearly to relevant parties to advise vehicle movement in the aerodrome
• Good organisational skills
• Strong independent work initiative, flexible in approach and available to on-call and out-of-hours duties as required
• Ability to work closely within the team and with other disciplines

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Lead the calculation, analysis, and tracking of the Group’s Scope 1, 2 & 3 GHG emission footprint.
• Manage the SEAI Monitoring & Reporting and Airport Carbon Accreditation reporting process in addition to other relevant reporting frameworks and standards
• Contribute to annual VSME sustainability report
• Collaborate with operational teams to track energy, waste, water, and biodiversity indicators, and other sustainability related KPIs
• Identify trends and opportunities for improvement through data analytics
• Engage and manage external consultants
• Manage key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including participation in relevant sustainability committees and working groups

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The candidate should have:

• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in data analysis, sustainability / environmental or similar role
• Recognised third level degree in Science/ Engineering /Accountancy or similar
• Postgraduate qualification in sustainability or related discipline desirable
• Strong data analysis/ analytical skills and proficiency with tools such as Excel, Power BI or equivalent
• Experience of using carbon/emissions footprinting tools desirable but not essential
• Experience of management systems and certifications desirable e.g. ISO 140001, ISO 50001
• Experience in delivery of complex projects in multi-stakeholder environments
• Strong communication and influencing skills - both verbal and written
• Personable disposition and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating cross functionally across the organisation and with wider external stakeholders
• A ‘can do’ attitude and a positive solution-focused mindset.
